The New VARILIGHT Dimmer Dimmable EnergySaver+ Compact Fluorescent Lamp also known as an Energy Saving Lamp. During the lifetime of this light bulb (which is 16,000 hours) you can expect to save over £100 on energy bills and reduce CO2 emissions by half a tonne!** This product is a Dimmable Energy Saving Bulb or Lamp that can be controlled by using a standard dimmer.

The dimmer dimmable lamp (YCA20D-B22 or YCA20D-E27) can be used with most dimmers, but for best results please use the Varilight touch/remote dimmer that has a minimum wattage of 20watts. With these dimmers you are able to dim just 1 lamp and up to 24 lamps depending on the maximum wattage of the touch/remote dimmer chosen.

This version is the Varilight Dimmer Dimmable Energy Saving Lamp with bayonet fitting which you are able to run using a light dimmer. If you would prefer the Varilight Dimmer Dimmable Energy Saving Lamp with Edison (Screwed) fitting, please choose YCA20D-E27. This dimmer dimmable energy saving lamp can be used with dimmers only, for the switch dimmable version please see YCA20S-B22.

The Dimmable Energy Saving Lamp produces an output of 1300 lumens. Further benefits are provided by the DigiFlux® digital dimming technology with excellent power factor correction delivering a power factor of over 0.95 for the Dimmable EnergySaver+. This compares with a power factor of less than 0.6 for most CFLs, which results in inefficient energy distribution and higher energy costs.

At a time when governments have energy-saving high on their agenda, and with energy costs soaring, we expect these new products to appeal to local authorities, industry and householders alike.

This light bulb is designed to be used with a standard domestic dimmer switch (with phase cut technology, leading or trailing edge). For optimum compatibility choose Varilight dimmer switches.

Check the loading limits of your dimmer: This energy saving light bulb is rated at 20W.
Please note that dimmer switches have minimum load limits. Therefore you must check the minimum load of your (usually on the rear of the dimmer or on the packaging) and make sure the minimum load is met. For example, if the dimmer has a minimum load of 40 watts (W) you need to use at least 2 Dimmable Energy saving light bulbs (2x20W = 40W).

Special Varilight low load dimmers are available with a minimum load of 20W if you want to use just one Dimmable Energy Saving lamp with a dimmer...Please look in the REMOTE DIMMERS Category, and choose any of these.

Also check the maximum load limit, so that if your dimmer has a maximum load limit of 250W then you can use a maximum of 12 Dimmable energy saving light bulbs (12 x 20W = 240W)

In addition to dimmable CFLs, the DigiFlux® range will include fully dimmable ballasts for linear fluorescent lamps (LFLs) that avoid the disadvantages of traditional 1-10V systems by using standard two-wire control not requiring additional control cabling. These too will be available either to be controlled by a dimmer or by a standard light switch and will extend lamp life significantly. A special sequencing version is also planned, designed for illuminated point-of-sale and advertisements. The ballast will cycle the brightness accordingly to a pre-programmed a time sequence.
